Event Details

Date: Friday, October 23, 2009
Registration and Check In: 3:30 PM
Start Time: 4:30 PM
Celebration and Dinner: Immediately following walk
Location: University of Cincinnati Main Campus on McMicken Lawn
The walk will take place rain or shine.

It is free to participate! Each walker is simply asked to raise or donate at least $25 to help us grant the wishes of our Wish Children. On average, most walkers raise more than this.

The purpose of the walk is two-fold:
1.  To raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation
2.  To get the UC student body, alumni and Bearcat friends united and excited about the Homecoming Football game (a sort of pep rally)

The Event

Homecoming 5K to Grant Wishes Today is a 5K run/walk that brings people together for a fun day at the University of Cincinnati's Main Campus in an effort to raise funds for Southern Ohio children with life-threatening medical conditions. One of the main draws of the event is the ability to enjoy the great weather and beautiful UC campus with friends, family, co-workers, and fellow alumni while helping to make wishes come true. Afterwards all participants are welcome to stay for the Homecoming 5K to Grant Wishes Today celebration, complete with entertainment, activities, dinner and refreshments.

Where Does the Money Go?

The average value of a wish is $6,000. Currently over 125 children are waiting for their wish to be granted in Southern Ohio. It is our goal to assist the Make-A-Wish Foundation in creating memories the family can cherish for a lifetime. The money you raise will help to grant the wishes of these very special, local children.

2.  Register your team online by clicking here and selecting "click here to become a fundraiser" or by using the form in the Homecoming 5K to Grant Wishes Today brochure.  Be sure to include your team name.
3.  Recruit walkers to join you, raise funds and walk to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Please note that each team member needs to register individually and is asked to raise a minimum of $25.

Prizes can be earned through fundraising. Each walker who raises $50 or more will receive a Homecoming 5K to Grant Wishes Today t-shirt.  The teams that raise the most money will receive fabulous prizes.  Individual walkers with the highest donations will also receive special awards.  Your registration automatically enters you in random drawings for great prizes.  Prizes are distributed at the walk.
