Chapters provide a variety of programs, raise money for local/national charities, complete many hours of service to the campus and the surrounding communities.
We cultivate leaders. We have had many of our students move on to represent their inter/national organizations as traveling consultants for one or two years following college graduation. This is a job that many apply for and only a small few of distinguished leaders are chosen. We are extremely proud of our UC students who represent our community all across the country.
Greek Life Experience
Once or twice a year, the fraternities and sororities host a speaker for all members and the University Community. Although all fraternity and sorority new members are required to attend the presentation, they usually find the speaker informative, interesting, and humorous. Previous speakers have presented topics such as alcohol and drug use, hazing, living the ritual, and easing into college and fraternity and sorority life.
Future Greek Leaders Council (FGLC)
Every chapter's new member class elects representatives to the Future Greek Leaders Council. This council is a group whose main goal is to acquaint new members to the Greek Community. Advised by the Inter-Greek Council Executive Board, FGLC is reflective of the Inter-Greek Council by organizing activities, fundraisers, community service and philanthropic projects, and social events. New members are better prepared to serve as leaders in their chapters and/or other student involvement opportunities. FGLC often serves as a gateway to involvement in the Inter-Greek Council Executive Boards.
Homecoming
Homecoming at the University of Cincinnati is always the perfect time for our fraternity and sorority community to show their school spirit. Every fall quarter fraternities pair up with one of the sororities or another student organization to build the traditional homecoming float. All the fraternity and sorority members invite their parents and chapter alumni over to their chapter houses to enjoy the parade together, sometimes with a brunch before the parade begins at noon. Our fraternity and sorority community always looks forward to Homecoming and its preparation. The parade is a main highlight as everyone anxiously waits to see how their float turned out this year! Homecoming is also a time for our families to visit our chapter houses and meet the supporting fraternity/sorority alumni of our university.
Order of Omega
The Zeta Zeta Chapter at the University of Cincinnati recognizes and honors the scholastic achievement and involvement of upperclassmen in our fraternity and sorority community. Membership is based on academic achievement and leadership involvement through an application process. Similar to a regular chapter, members participate in leadership opportunities and service projects throughout the year. Some of their more known programs include organizing the annual cookout before Greek Week and facilitating the Chapter Excellence Awards process.
Rho Lambda
Rho Lambda is the leadership recognition society originally founded at the University of Miami in 1962. The purpose of Rho Lambda is to honor those women within the Panhellenic Association who have been outstanding in the display of demonstrated leadership, ability, and loyalty to Panhellenic Association and their sorority. The Zeta Iota Chapter at the University of Cincinnati was chartered in the spring of 2001. To date, 125 chapters have been chartered throughout North America, all sharing the common goal of recognizing sorority women for their outstanding leadership.
